Full support for ocean rowers — from logistics and training to routing and gear prep.

Our Services

At The Ocean Rowing Company, we don’t just build exceptional boats — we help you go the distance. Whether you’re racing the World’s Toughest Row or planning an independent expedition, we offer end-to-end support to prepare you, your crew, and your boat for the challenge ahead.

Our services are available for all ocean rowers, regardless of the boat you row. We proudly support crews using both our D-Series boats and Rannoch-built vessels, with the exception of refits, which we provide exclusively for our own designs.

Refitting & Custom Upgrades

Own a The Ocean Rowing Company-built boat? We offer full refit services to bring it back to race-ready condition, including:

  • Structural and cosmetic repairs

  • Electrical and solar upgrades

  • Cabin and deck customizations

  • Hardware replacements and safety checks

We currently do not offer refitting services for Rannoch or other third-party boats. Our expertise and parts are focused on our own D-Series platform.

Logistics

Getting your boat to the start line — and safely back from the finish — is no small feat. That’s why we offer dedicated logistics support for the World’s Toughest Row, specifically between La Gomera (start) and Antigua (finish).

Our logistics services include:

  • Coordination of container loading and unloading

  • Customs paperwork and port handling

  • Local crane operations and on-site assistance

  • Guidance on timing, check-ins, and race requirements

We’ve managed this process many times before, and we know what’s required — so you can focus on your final weeks of training while we make sure your boat gets where it needs to be.

We currently only offer shipping services between La Gomera and Antigua for the World’s Toughest Row.

Gear & Materials Prep

From para-anchors to pliers, we help you source, inspect, and pack every critical item. Our prep services include:

  • Equipment review and procurement

  • Spare parts and repair kits

  • Packing strategies and safety checks

  • Expedition-proven gear lists tailored to your route

Whether you’re rowing a The Ocean Rowing Company or a Rannoch, we ensure you’re equipped for success.

Routing Support

When you’re in the middle of the ocean, you need more than luck. You need insight, timing, and trust. We provide:

  • Daily personalized routing support

  • Weather analysis based on Garmin inReach data

  • Real-time advice on currents, systems, and navigation

  • Emergency troubleshooting and remote technical assistance

All routing is done personally by Mark, our founder and seasoned rower — combining experience, satellite data, and daily contact to keep you moving in the right direction.

We support all ocean rowers, regardless of your boat’s origin. If you’re on the ocean, we’re with you.

Technical Assistance

When you’re hundreds of miles offshore, even a minor technical issue can feel overwhelming. That’s why we offer dedicated technical assistance during your crossing, designed to help you troubleshoot, adapt, and keep moving.

Our support includes:

  • Emergency troubleshooting via satellite communication (Garmin inReach, Iridium, WhatsApp if nearshore)

  • Step-by-step repair guidance using your onboard tools and spares

  • Diagnosis of electrical, navigation, comms, and hardware issues

  • Fast response during critical phases like storm prep or nighttime failures

All support is coordinated directly by our experienced team, including founder Mark, who understands what it’s like to face problems mid-ocean — because he’s been there himself.

We’ve helped rowers solve autopilot issues in heavy seas, rewire broken solar systems, and even unjam rudders mid-Atlantic — all without setting foot onboard.

Training & Preparation

Crossing an ocean is 80% mental and physical, 20% boat. We support your training journey with:

  • Row-specific strength and endurance plans

  • Sleep pattern and nutrition advice

  • Equipment handling and repair workshops

  • Scenario training (capsize, failure drills, shift routines)

Good prep makes great crossings. We help you build the mindset and endurance to succeed.

Need Something Custom?

Your crossing isn’t standard — so why should your support be? Whether you need on-demand advice, specific boat mods (for TORC models), or tailored gear packages, we’re happy to help.
