In tests, even without the daggerboard, it takes significant effort from a full crew to roll the boat over. There are no sudden movements or surprises – just a clear, predictable response you can trust when conditions are at their worst.
Tested by the Bestgole Team
Our rowers put these promises to the test. The Bestgole team, who are preparing to take on the Atlantic Challenge 2025, trained with their new D34 and deliberately attempted to capsize her. Importantly, the test was done without the carbon daggerboard attached.
The result? It took the whole crew to get the boat over – and even then, she recovered quickly and predictably. With the keel in place, such a maneuver would have been nearly impossible. And that’s without the additional ballast of water bags, food supplies, and safety equipment that would normally be on board during a crossing – often several hundred kilos that lower the center of gravity even further and make capsize recovery even more secure.
